Telenav
II
Telenav
II is a video data labeling system. It encodes analogue video
pictures automatically with GPS position, date, time, course over
ground and velocity along with other options such as altitude,
attitude and heading.
The
Telenav II system accepts the GPS digital data in an industrial
standard format and invisibly inserts the geographic and other
information into a video signal, locked to each frame in frequency
and time. It does not burn the data into the video frame but
inserts the data into the spare video lines of the ‘vertical
interval’. In this way none of the video image is lost and audio
channels remain free for intended use.
Telenav
II is an ‘intelligent’ system that identifies and adapts the
data insertion process so that any other information carried
within the video signal is not corrupted or destroyed but carried
along without interference. It checks to see if there is already
data on the spare video lines and fits around any that it finds.
Once ‘encoded’, the video signal is securely and permanently
tagged with data. The information is available to the viewer at
any time, by playing the encoded video into a Telenav II unit set
to ‘decode mode’. Various display formats are possible at the
touch of a button and the data is simultaneously output on a
serial port (RS232) for interfacing with one of the RTGIS
applications.

Using
Telenav II it is necessary to use a camera and a separate video
recording unit. The camera image is encoded with the GPS signal
via the Telenav unit and then recorded on a compact vhs recording
unit or even a camcorder unit set to record. The camera is usually
mounted outside the vehicle, aircraft, boat or locomotive at a
suitable position and attitude to maximize the amount of image
information captured. The GPS receiver, Telenav unit and recording
unit are internal with easy observation that all is functioning
correctly.

Fly
and Go Case
|
|
The
self-contained ‘Fly and Go’ surveillance kit available
from Navtech Systems, includes Telenav II, VCR and power
supplies. This
case minimizes the number of connections between Telenav II,
aircraft systems and the camera and can be immediately
installed without certification.
Suitable
for aerial monitoring and surveillance, this gives an
economic and tidy system with few interconnections and is
easy to use. An
advantage when the client is chartering an aircraft for data
acquisition.
