Live™
|
Real
Time GIS, RTGIS Live™
is spatially referenced video technology designed for use on
airborne platforms (rotary, fixed or UAV).
Live,
real time operation is achieved using RTGIS software from BlueGlen
and Navtech System’s hardware – transmitter/receiver units and
Telenav II
encoder/decoder units.

Telenav II™
Microwave
Downlinks
This
system is used by Police, Search & Rescue, Disaster Management
and Emergency & Response agencies to
pinpoint location for deliberation of necessary corrective action
or used to gather video evidence and information for post sortie
analysis.

|
RTGIS Live™
provides live video with synchronised GPS information using
Telenav
II.
This encoded
signal is instantaneously transmitted to a receiving unit at
a ground command post.
There, the signal is automatically plotted onto a digitised
moving map display.
This
allows airborne platforms to be tracked on a user friendly mapping
system that displays both the ‘live’ position of the aircraft
alongside the ‘live’
video picture stream . Industry standard map formats are used
such as ESRI’s Arcview shape files, MapInfo Inc and AutoCAD.
|
|
| |

|
Standard navigation data is displayed
including; position, time, date, course over the ground, altitude
and velocity. Video sequences
can easily be ‘frame-grabbed’ or digitized for later viewing
and analysis. Standard mapping or GIS functions are available.
These enable the operator to zoom-in, zoom-out, pan, and even
perform ‘live’ data queries.

Data
Acquisition
|
The
airborne camera provides a standard video signal in PAL or NTSC
format.
This is fed to an encoding system called Telenav II, which
invisibly inserts digital data from a GPS receiver into the signal.
The signal is thus tagged with the position of the aircraft.
This system does not require the use of audio or other
separate data channels as the data is carried free and invisibly
by the video signal at full transmission power.
If
a secure link is required, then a video encryption unit is added
between the camera and the Telenav II data encoder.

|
|
| Data
Transmit |
|
GPS
encoded signal is fed to the microwave transmitter.
Here the video signal is added to the high power
microwave carrier signal that the transmitter generates,
ready for the transmission through the antenna.
|
|
Antenna
is normally an omni-directional type, where the signal
is transmitted equally in all directions.

|
Accepts
digital data in an industrial standard format.

| Data
Receive |
Ground
based receive antenna is either a simple omni-directional unit
for short ranges of between 1 to 8 kilometers, or a high-gain
unit for long range, greater than 8 kilometers, operation.
If
a directional antenna is used, then a tracking system, called
Microtracker, is required to keep the antenna pointing towards
the transmitting aircraft.
Signal
passed from the receive antenna to the microwave receiver where
the original video signal is extracted from the microwave carrier.
A
Telenav II decoder unit reads the encoded GPS data to enable
the tracking platform to steer the antenna towards the aircraft
and it also enables RTGIS Live™
to operate.
